Grand Central Market

Branding, Print, Motion

A rebrand of LA’s largest public market, Grand Central Market. With 4o vendors and over 100 years of business, they currently lack a brand positioning that aligns with the history, diversity, culture, and energy of the place. Influences from Colby Printing Studio and old historical prints help develop a visual identity that utilizes bold typefaces, and vibrant colors to encapsulate the brand.

The pattern line was created as a result of using the ends of slab serifs to design symbols. Each symbol is named after the 11 households that founded LA, embedding culture and story within the visual identity.

Grand Central Market x CICLAVIA

CICLAVIA is a non-profit organization that hosts a monthly event where they close down the streets of LA to have a dedicated space for bikers, skaters, and runners.

The collaboration will be done as a CICLAVIA event where vendors distribute samples throughout the trail, and the path ends at Grand Central Market.

Both businesses heavily value being LA-based. The event will help provide exposure to Grand Central Market to LA Natives.
